..and a video

Since we are talking about Kaweco anyway: If you subscribe to my YouTube channel you have noticed my series of mechanical pencil reviews. Here’s a look at Kaweco’s mechanical pencil from the Special series. I will introduce this series of videos at some point in the future, but I thought with today’s topic being Kaweco this video can act as a quick preview to my new video series.

The news a few people have been waiting for, especially after this product has been mentioned on the Pen Addict Podcast #294:

Dave’s Kaweco

Is it just me or does there seem to be a mysterious link between Kaweco and Red Dwarf, a British Sci-Fi comedy?

In my Kaweco Prototype blog post from two years ago I had a “This blog post has been brought to you by Kryten and the Jupiter Mining Corporation” message (for fun), but when the latest Red Dwarf series aired last autumn the intro video from Red Dwarf current home, TV station Dave (part of UKTV), featured the newly released Kaweco Perkeo.

Mysterious, especially since Kaweco isn’t exactly a high street brand in the UK. Maybe in the future Kaweco will become part of the Jupiter Mining Corporation.

I guess the conclusion to draw here is that creatives, like the ones making UKTV’s intro videos, like a good pen, in this case a Kaweco.

..and now for something completely different (in case you haven’t heard yet): WHSmith bought CultPens.

Kaweco’s Valentine’s Special

Recently, my wife told me about the following Valentine’s Special from Kaweco China. As I haven’t seen anything about this set yet in the West I thought I share the details with you.

It includes a pen for her (in the Strawberry Pink colour) and one for him either blue or green.

Her pen comes can be used as a clutch pencil or you can insert the included ‘ballpoint pen lead’ to make it into a ballpoint. His is a fountain pen and you can pick from two colours, which look like the Retro Blue and Industrial Green I have shown in a previous blog post about Kaweco’s special colours for China, Taiwan, Macao and HongKong.

Early orders will get some additional postcards from America’s Rifle Paper Co.

The set also comes with a leather case and costs ¥520 (~$80; €65; £58).

Price and exchange rates: January 2018

Bleistift’s Birthday Party

As mentioned previously work is keeping me more than busy at the moment, so there won’t be many blog posts for a while (probably until January or February). I do still spend some time on my stationery hobby, but it is just to manage the Stationery Wiki – in your average week, there’s actually more spam added, which needs removing, than real content.

The sign is really big. Bigger than A4.

I am very happy to see that despite the lack of new posts there are still comments being left at this blog and even happier to see that a gift arrived at Bleistift HQ, just in time for today’s eight birthday of this blog. Thank you, Tg Das Drehmoment, who send these treasures from Berlin.

I’m very much looking forward to next year when I hope there will be months with up to 15 blog posts again, rather than the current very occasional posts.

PS: You can see the fitting pencils for the Faber-Castell sign in the Jubilator blog post. I wonder whether the sign is from Faber-Castell’s 222nd birthday in 1983.
