pencil pot of the month

Pencil pot of the month – April 2023

The pencil pot of the month for this April is again made from concrete.

Like January’s pencil pot, it comes from Spanish company DOIY Design. I ordered it at the same time as January’s pencil pot. Due to lack of space, it is, for now, not on my desk – unlike January’s pencil pot which is now a permanent fixture between keyboard and the computer.

Like the other Scala pencil pot, it features ‘steps’, but is wide enough to work as a pen tray.

You can store items, like erasers, paper clips, etc under the tray. If you wanted to, you could also use the two parts of the pen tray separately, i.e. use the lid as a tray and leave the lower part permanently open.

Pencil pot of the month – March 2023

Before the month of March is over, here’s a quick look at the pencil pot of the month – again made from concrete.

I bought it a few months ago from Etsy seller ConcreteGiftsUK for £16.99 including postage.

This “pencil pot”, in the widest sense of the word, doesn’t have as many holes for pencils as last month’s pencil pot. The front serves as a very spacious pen tray ..which is more than useful.

The long slots in the back are probably often used to hold a phone or business cards, but they can be repurposed to whatever makes sense for you. In my case I store an eraser and a bone folder in the right slot.

Pencil pot of the month – February 2023

February’s pencil pot is, again, made from concrete.

I bought it on Etsy from seller COnCREtebEttY for £10, including postage. It arrived in record time.

The holes in this pen holder are ideal for pencils. I use the front of the holder to store an eraser, but haven’t found a good use for the slot in the back yet.

Currently this holder only seems to be available as a set.

Pencil pot of the month – January 2023

After a rather long break, the pencil pot of the month category will be in use again, even if only temporarily.

Starting the pencil pots of 2023 off is a concrete pencil pot from Spanish company DOIY Design. I ordered this one from Zeitgeist London when it was on offer [1]At the time of writing this blog post it still is on offer..

This Spanish designed and Chinese made pencil pot has a slight hue of pink. I find the “stairs” of this pencil pot interesting. They can be used as pen holders to rest full length pens, but they really excel as a place to store used pencils that got shorter with time.

Be warned though if you want to use expensive pens with this pen holder: Concrete can be quite rough, so in my opinion there is a slightly increased possibility of scratching the surface of pens you store in this pen holder if you are not careful.

How I actually use it on my desk…

Pencil pot of the month – June 2020

It’s time to temporarily revive the pencil pot of the month series.

Lego pencil pot 50154

After spending five years tucked away it was high time for this Lego pencil pot to get assembled.

I bought it at the Lego Store in Manchester in August 2015 for £10.99 (~€12.15; ~$13.50) …after unsuccessfully chasing a previous Lego pencil pot, one that I thought looked nicer, for a few weeks.
