Eagle-eyed Bleistift reader Tomasz Maped [1]I didn’t realise that Maped, the name of a French stationery company, is a surname. from Poland contacted me after he noticed a Lamy Safari in the first episode of the second season of Solar Opposites.
I must have missed that detail when I watched this episode so am especially thankful to Tomasz for pointing this out.
The screenshots in this blog post has been taken from Season 2 Episode 1 of Solar Opposites. I believe that the use of the screenshot shown in this blog post falls under “fair dealing” as described by the UK Copyright service.

Hello!
Thank you for including that on your blog. That’s one way to get immortalized. :>
I use my nickname “Maped” for over 20 years and it was passed on me from my uncle who was a pioneer in digital cartography. In the early 90s I was also creating maps… for a game Unreal Tournament, so there’s that.
But also once during pencil factory visit in France I heard that “MAPED” is an acronym of ~”precise tools for cutting and drawing” which is also funny because I used to cut out mural sized stencils back then and I still work as an illustrator.
I constantly receive MAPED branded gadgets from my friends. This joke will never get old.. :>
Ooh, what color/edition is that Safari??
Thank you for your comments.
Maped, thanks for the information for this post and the explanation of your nickname which is great.
Linda, I think is is just a white Safari. I don’t think it’s the grey version, often referred to as Griso, as that one is matt, not shiny.
Thank you!
