Merry Christmas! I hope that over the holidays you’ll find the time to enjoy some of your favourite pens and pencils.
I was lucky enough to get some pencils for Christmas from my wife (including a Lamy plus pencil, which isn’t easy to get in the UK and some less common Staedtler pencils), but I also got two non-pencil items for Christmas: a bottle of Graf von Faber-Castell’s new ink and a Lindauer fountain pen. In Papier Pfeiffer I was told that Faber-Castell is currently only shipping Hazelnut Brown, Stone Grey and Garnet Red – I assume this is only true for Germany though. Shops in other countries seem to stock different ink colours.
Merry Christmas! I received a Lindauer ink last year for Christmas and until today, I still can’t find it anywhere besides in Germany. Have you tried out the Faber-Castell ink? I am quite curious about it.
Thanks, merry Christmas to you, too.
I haven’t used Lindauer ink yet, but I thought it might be the same as Metzger & Mendle ink, which is very cheap in Germany. I tried to write a blog post about the M&M ink for years but never got round to do it.
So far I only dipped the Lindauer fountain pen in the GvFC ink. I didn’t bring many fountain pens / inks with me, so don’t have a good comparison, but it seems to be a friendly and happy shade of brown. One of the two fountain pens I brought, a Ohto Tasche, is filled with Diamine Dark Brown and in comparison the GvFC Hazelnut Brown seems to be much happier and brighter.
I had a Lindauer for Christmas last year. It is an excellent pen and the nb is much softer than than the Lamy’s I have. Spare nibs are easy o get and easy to swop.
I use mine with Abraxas Iron Gall ink for fountain pens. It is a good fit for that ink as it writes quite wet which gives the ink more saturation.
Dear Matthias,
Where I can find a lindauer fountain pen? I will be very glade to you.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
David, I do love iron gall ink, but am always careful when using it in fountain pens. Would you say the iron gall ink from Abraxas is suitable for fountain pens? I have used my Lindauer for a few notes by now. It is very smooth, but a bit too wet to be used without blotting paper and sometimes it skips, but I hope that might go away.
Ali, you can buy them at http://www.lindauer.li/ . Thanks for your wishes and all the best for the new year.
