Staedtler historic pencil construction kit

Something very special:

This year Staedtler will offer a historic pencil construction kit. I have seen it in photos taken at their workshop and am really excited that it will be available to buy for those of us who can not attend the workshops.

For more information check this page on Staedtler’s web site.

Update: Staedtler’s German and Austrian web sites have a short video from a trade fair in Linz, Austria. This video  shows how to “assemble” Staedtler’s historic pencil. Unfortunately there are no English subtitles.

I really like that Staedtler refers to this pencil as being historic, instead of historical – because Friedrich Staedtler’s pencils of similar design are such an important part of Staedtler’s history.

  1. Palimpset, I agree. This is the one product I look forward to most (I hope it won’t be too expensive).

  3. I was lucky to see the pencilmaker set at the Paperworld trade show in Frankfurt/Main (Germany) yesterday. Although the seal is not a real one but from plastic (and to be glued on) the set is real nice and definitely a great idea. It will be available in Germany at the end of February or the beginning of March; I hope to learn about the price soon.

  4. Hello Gunther, thank you for this information and please let us know when you have more information about the price. My guess would be that the price is somewhere between € 5 and € 15.
I have received a reply from Staedtler to my query regarding the kit today and the information is similar to the one at Paperworld: The kit is supposed to be in the shops by the beginning of the second quarter.
I hope you will be writing about this year’s Paperworld at lexikaliker.de. I am really looking forward to reading more about it on your blog.

  5. Yes, I will write something about the Paperworld in my blog; however, it may take a few days. – I would like to add that the the tins both for the pencilmaker set and the regular pencils are oversized (the pencils are held by a shaped plastic part) so they can be used as an everyday pencil case; besides that, they are lacquered on the inside too.
